All youth participants passed the program, achieving a nationally recognized certificate, while building hands on skills along with memories that will last a lifetime.
In field components covered skills like plant and wildlife species identification, soil texture analysis, and introduced analytical and critical thinking about environmental management practices such as environmental impact studies.
In class components provided an open atmosphere to discuss ideas from a western science or Indigenous Traditional Knowledge perspective. Topics covered under the Environmental Core program included the basics of ecology, environmental sector jobs, communication, mapping. A Climate Change Apaptation program engabled youth with knowledge and skills to prepare a community driven climate change plan.
The BEAHR program is one way that the Bagida'waad Alliance and its partners are facilitating the next generation of environmental managers and leaders.
